A Grandchild's Guide to the Cemetery

(Sorry if this treads on morbid territory, folks. But this post is meant to be a helpful reminder for me, on those occasions when I want to visit the place where my father's parents rest.)

How to get to Fort Lincoln Cemetery:

3401 Bladensburg Rd, Brentwood, MD 20722

Who will you find there?

Sterlin Tavel Senior, Olivia Tavel, Sterlin Tavel Jr, Ella Mae Tavel, Hilda Gish, and Daniel Tavel.

Other things:

In front of you will be the Garden of the Crucifixion.
Behind you will be the Garden of the Apostles.
There's a big oak tree to your left, and a crazy spruce tree behind you.

Cemeteries: Salem

Part three! A few photos I took while on the second half of our Honeymoon in Salem. The cemeteries are all lovely here, you basically can't visit a bad one. I remember this cemetery specifically from when I visited Salem the first time ever as a school girl. I found a lone tombstone and adopted it as my favorite. It belongs to Moses W. Lawrence (a name I emblazoned on my memory) who was 19 years-old when he died. On this visit I remember exactly where his grave was, and of course I had to say hi. While there are certainly some great designs on the tombstones here, I think the best part about this cemetery is its ambiance as a whole.

Cemeteries: Boston

Part two! A few photos I took while on our Honeymoon in Boston. The place is full of old graveyards and this one - on the Freedom Trail - was my favorite. Favorites: death dancing the with the maiden, and the metro hole that blew hot air, and creepy noises, up into the graveyard like some spooky gateway to the underworld.

Cemeteries: New Orleans

Cemeteries are something I enjoy, aesthetically. A couple years ago I was visiting New Orleans, so of course I had to check these world famous cemeteries. Here's a collection of my favorite photos from the visit:
